Privacy policy
Short version: we collect what we need to run the marketplace, we never show your email, phone or date of birth on your public profile, and we never sell your data.
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains what EduXbd collects about you, why we collect it, who can see it, and what control you have over it. It applies to everybody who uses the platform — students, teachers and sellers.
2. Information you give us
When you register we collect your name, email address, phone number and password. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; nobody at EduXbd can read them.
You may optionally add a profile photo, a headline and bio, your institution, department, class or semester, the subjects you teach or study, your country, your date of birth and your preferred language. These are optional and you can remove them at any time.
If you apply to teach or to sell material, we additionally collect verification documents — a national ID or passport, proof of your institution, and qualification or degree certificates.
If you sell, we collect the payout details you give us so we can pay you.
3. Information we collect automatically
We record the searches made on the platform, along with how many results they returned, so we can improve search and understand what material students need. Searches made while signed in are linked to your account; searches made signed out are not.
We record listing views, downloads and orders so that sellers can see how their material performs and so we can detect fraud.
We use cookies for essential purposes: keeping you logged in, remembering the language you chose, and remembering the country detected for you so the site loads in the right language.
4. Who can see what
Your profile visibility is yours to set: public (anyone), registered users only, or hidden. New accounts default to hidden.
Your email address, phone number, date of birth, batch membership and earnings are never shown on your public profile, at any visibility setting. They are visible only to you and, where necessary, to the EduXbd team.
When you publish a listing, your display name and the profile information you have chosen to show appear alongside it. When you leave a review, your display name appears with it unless your profile is hidden, in which case you appear as an anonymous EduXbd student.
Buyers and sellers do not see each other's contact details. Communication happens through the platform.
5. How verification documents are stored
Identity and qualification documents submitted with a teacher or seller application are stored in restricted, non-public storage. They are never displayed on your profile, never shown to other users, and never attached to your listings.
Only the EduXbd moderation and compliance team can open them, and only to assess your application or to investigate a fraud or impersonation report.
We keep verification documents for as long as your seller account is active, plus the period we are required to retain them for tax, accounting and fraud-prevention purposes. After that they are deleted.
6. Why we use your information
To run your account and deliver what you buy; to process payments and pay sellers; to verify teachers so that students can trust who they are learning from; to moderate content and investigate reports; to improve search and recommendations; to send you service messages about your orders, classes and payouts; and to meet our legal and tax obligations.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
7. Who we share it with
Payment providers, so that transactions and payouts can be completed. They receive only what is needed to process the payment.
Infrastructure providers who host the platform and its database on our behalf, under contract.
Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally required to disclose information.
8. Your choices
You can edit or delete most profile information from your dashboard at any time, and change your profile visibility whenever you like.
You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete your account. Some records — completed orders, payouts and tax records — must be retained even after an account is closed.
You can change the interface language at any time from the switcher in the header; that choice is remembered and is never overridden by our location detection.
9. Security and children
We use encrypted connections, row-level access rules in the database, and restricted storage for sensitive documents. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to limit what any single failure could expose.
EduXbd is intended for secondary-school-age students and above. Where a student is a minor, we expect a parent or guardian to be aware of and to agree to the account.
10. Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will notify account holders. Questions, access requests and deletion requests can be raised through the help section of your dashboard.
